Infertility is a female and male disease defined by the inability to achieve pregnancy after 12 months or more of regular sexual intercourse. Approximately 17.5% of the adult population, or one in six people worldwide, suffer from infertility, highlighting the urgent need to increase access to fertility care (World Health Organisation). Infertility, therefore, has an undeniable social dimension and cannot be relegated, as is often the case, to a minority of couples left to address their issues alone.
